Conformity

Dancing whilst they marched, they rapidly forced me back into line
In step, in line, all the same, all the time, so much pain, all the time

Painting colours whilst they sketched black, they withdrew my tray
Stealing my brushes they forced a pencil into my hand, dictating

Exploring the forests they built two long wall around me, directing me
Fixing blinkers onto my head, blinding my peripherals, focusing my eyes

Singing freely with the birds, they quietened me, for no music shall play
Jut the beat of the drum, constant, regular, loud and threatening to me

Falling to my knees and weeping, the kicked me up, back into conformity
Until I could no more, and escaped to live, to life, and unwanted by them
