Our Africa

I was born here, as was my child
And my father, and his too
Who’s father arrived on a boat
From the lands of northern cold
And people of pale white skin
Clothed by greed and parading ego

But I am an African, as is my child
As were my father, and his
We have worked the lands in the sun
And brothered those of different skin
With the pride of unity and trust
That tomorrow the sun will shine
Upon our Africa like never before
